Answer the Call - 13th annual Phone-a-thon about to begin
Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation raising funds to benefit literacy programs in every school
The Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation (GBEF) will hold its annual Phone-A-Thon, March 9-12. During the four-day event, students from the district's high schools will call parents and community members asking for their support. By "Answering the Call," donations will go towards continuing the support for the district’s digital media centers by purchasing new reading materials for every school. The goal this year is to continue to add more books to cover more areas of need and interest. The ultimate objective is to help students become stronger 21st century readers. The event also provides a fundraising opportunity for high school student groups.
Last year the Phone-A-Thon raised over $25,000 for the student groups and the district’s digital media centers. The Foundation purchased over 500 books to get the centers started.
This year’s event sponsors are Gresham Sanitary, Gresham Ford, and The Outlook. Individuals donating $40 or more will receive a $20 gift certificate for service from Gresham Ford. Visit the GBEF website at www.gbefkids.org to make a pledge.
The Gresham-Barlow School District serves more than 11,000 students in grades K-12. The Gresham-Barlow Education Foundation was formed in 1994 to assist schools within the district in providing the best possible educational opportunities.
